چکیده

Integrals that are of interest in the analysis, design, and optimization concentrating solar thermal systems (CST), such as annual optical efficiency light collection concentration (LCC) subsystem, can be accurately computed or estimated two distinct ways: on time domain spatial domain. This article explores these ways, using a case study is highly representative commercial CST being deployed worldwide. In domain, computation integrals explored 1-min, 10-min, 1-h DNI input data The Cyprus Institute (CyI)’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) system an open-source ray tracer, Tonatiuh++, actively developed at CyI. SunPATH, another software tool CyI, tandem with Tonatiuh++. comparison between approach clearly indicate SunPATH dramatically more computationally efficient than approach. According to results obtained, least for analyzed this article, compute energy delivered by LCC subsystem relative error less 0.1%, it enough provide input, request from sun position weights just 30 points celestial sphere, run Tonatiuh++ simulate 15 million rays per run. As test representative, expected will yield similar most interest.

Finite Lambertian source analysis of concentrators: application to solar reflectors.

The maximum power cast on a collector from a source of finite angular extension by a concentrator of fixed position occurs when the collector sees the concentrator as a Lambertian source. Concentrators not fully meeting this requirement are evaluated using a parameter called the shape quality factor. Lambertian concentrators can be obtained with mirrors but not with lenses of finite n. In many ...

CAI for Minimizing Movement of Solar Tracking Concentrators

Computer-Aided Innovation (CAI) has proven useful for creative problem solving, particularly when faced with opposing restrictions. The work presented is faced with such restrictions in terms of solar tracking concentrators. The targeted low cost regarding the tracking system is opposed to the need of a constant precise and controlled movement. The literature revised will be discussed and then ...

Solar Concentrators

Solar technology offers great potential in terms of supplying the world’s energy needs. However, its current contribution to the world is still limited. The main factor is related to high initial cost of building the system. This paper will provide an up-to-date review of solar concentrators and their benefits to make solar technology affordable. It will also analyse on some of the existing sol...
